When the tank is full and running on an incline the motor will sputter and die unless I unscrew the gas cap a bit. I thought at first it was the in line gas filter and the problem came right back afterward. Is that cap vented or is there another vent somewhere? I do use it in a very dusty environment at the farm. If I tighten the cap up tight then back it off a bit it doesn't do it. Almost like it's vaperlocking.

Replace the gas cap and your problem will go away. The vent hole must be blocked.

Depending on year the cap may or may not be vented. If it is not vented there will be another line coming out of the top of the tank that either goes to the air cleaner housing on the engine, or to a canister for vapor collection.

If you are getting raw fuel into the vent line if it has one that could cause the sputtering issues.
