Hi there:

First time poster...I own a couple of old Lawn Boys.

I had a solid state ignition model I was using and another I was given and needed to get running.

It is a Model 5124 made in Peterborough Ontario.

Finally got around to looking at it. No spark.

It has point ignition. I cleaned the flywheel and coil faces, set the air gap and cleaned the points as well.

Put it back together and it now had a good spark.

Also drained the tank and cleaned it with fresh gas and Sea Foam. I let some of that flow into the carb to work its magic for 30 minutes.

I primed it and pulled it and away it went for the first time in many years. Quite rewarding!

The reason I am posting is I need a cover for the air cleaner. The carb is all cream coloured plastic.

The cover fits into two slots on the bottom of the air cleaner housing and snaps into a third slot.

I have attached pictures.

Does anyone know where I can get a cover and the foam insert?

Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide.

Oh, I think the engine is a D-400 but stand to be corrected.

Peter

Welcome to the Lawn Boy forum. This is the place if you need help. There are some really good guys on here that like to help out. My very first Lawn Boy was a 1976 model and the carb looked like yours. My air cleaner cover was part # 608791 or 608814 and the foam filter was part # 607580. They are available on Ebay. I could be wrong about this so don't order anything until someone more knowledgeable chimes in with more info.

Thanks for the reply...checked on eBay and the 608791 cover looks to be what I need.
Seems that the actual air filter elements are available after market which is good.
Are there still ignition components made for these or just NOS?

I don't see any drawings for your model on the lawn boy site where I always look up parts. I don't think all D series engines take the same coil. From what I have seen, they are pretty expensive. Some of the small engine part stores say they are discontinued but you can still find some on Ebay.
Good luck.
