Briggs and Stratton Engine model 12W802-1701 on Lawnboy 22242

Hi I have just bought a used Lawnboy 22242 with a 4 cycle B & S engine. I am trying to change the oil it but there is no oil plug under the engine. How I can take the oil dip stick tube out and tilt the engine to drain the oil. This would be messy but if this is the way to do it then I will design something so the oil doesn't get all over the deck. Any ideas? Thank you.

On the engines with a screw in oil dip stick just turn the whole mower over and drain into with a big pan.

If a few drops spill on the deck just wipe it off.

I did not look up your model number so I don't know if it is a push type or a rider.

Thank you for your reply. Yes it is a push type of Lawnmower not a riding lawnmower. That's what I thought I would have to do. It just seemed awkward that I would have to do it that way. The dipstick tube actually just slides into the lower block that has a o ring seal at the bottom of it to keep the oil from getting out while operating the push lawn mower. Go to a boating store and get a pump.
Bit hard to go under the engine on a boat and remove the drain plug.
Cheap ones are just a syringe, mine is a vacuum pump & I love it.
Nice & clean, no more sticking my foot into pans of hot oil cause I am a sloppy mechanic.

Thank you for your advice. That is a great idea. Even if I use a bigger type of syringe with a small hose at the end of it I could suck the old oil out of the crankcase. There is about 0.6 litres of total oil in the engine anyway. Awesome, thanks for the insight. Have a great day. :thumbsup:
