Hour Meter Re-Wiring......

Just took delivery of my new Ferris 2100. I read in the owners manual that the hours meter only runs when the P.T.O. is engaged. This does not reflect correct run time on the engine. To track run time for engine service I would like to wire the hour meter to the ignition switch rather than to the PTO switch. Question; Has anyone done this? If so how did you re-wire the hour meter....Thanks in advance.....

Take the feed to the hour meter from the output wire on the alternator if it goes through the ignition switch so that will only be running hours.
Alternative take off is to tap into the fuel shut off valve although with this set up you will be measuring ignition on hours and not running hours.
For the purpose of serviceing mowing hours are more relevant as the rest of the time the engine is running no load.
That is of course unless you tow with it.

And now your warranty will be shorter.

My Toro hour meter only counts when I am seated & engine running. Now if I could mow standing up, that would certainly cut counted hours.
