Hi all,

I own five acres in SW Florida and I'm looking at replacing my Toro with either a Z400 or Z700 series Kubota. I like both machines and the prices seem good. I've just got a couple of questions. 1. Is the Z400 enough mower? During summer, it rains down here a lot and that means we can sometimes go 2 weeks before it's dry enough to mow. The lawn (1 acre) gets big and the pasture (4 acres) gets huge. 2. My Toro has a suspension seat and the ride is okay. It looks like neither the 400 or 700 has a suspension seat. Is it still comfortable?

Thanks for any feedback you can give.

I've had my z726 about 2 weeks now and love it. I thought the seat for not being a suspension seat was very comfortable. I ordered a power chute OCDC and a suspension insert that bolts between the seat and slide adjustment and can let u know how those installs go if you end up with a z700. The cut is great and steering is very smooth with a comfortable ride even though the suspension seat isnt on. Added a set of lights to it yesterday since sometimes i work longer hours and have to cut at dusk.

Have you had to cut anything really tall with it? What happens here is we get rains and can't get into the pastures for a couple weeks. Pasture grass is very thick and tall by the time I do so I want to make sure I buy enough machine to do the job. Thanks for the review.

Well i dont have any pasture grass but i do have pretty thick fescue and i was about a week past when it should have been cut while waiting for the new mower. With my old rider it would have needed double cut but the kubota chewed right through throwing thick grass easily no bogging down. I have not cut wet grass yet either because ive only had this a few weeks.

If you are going to have to cut stemmed grass go buy a Scag and leave the Kubota alone. We ran Kubota mowers for a while. They are good durable mowers. HOWEVER they will not cut grass with a Scag. Plus the Scag is priced about the same in all probability. You can buy a Tiger Cat Scag and if you only cut for your self it will last 20 years or more. Never ran anything that will cut stemmed grass with one.
