The electric clutch has gone out on my 1998 GT275. T replace it, $400 for clutch and am told nearly that for labor. Engine is in great shape and so is deck. Not sure whether to just get a new one or fix. Health isn't the best so that has to be a factor. Don't want to spend $800 and something else go wrong. Looking to spend $3k max. Another JD or a Hustler Zero turn? Thoughts?

Dealers definitely rip you off on the price of PTO clutches. My Cub Cadet clutch sells for almost $300 at the dealer; I paid half that. As for installation, if you are not inclined to do it yourself, find a small mower repair shop/private repair man that will charge less than the dealer.
