I have searched the web and can't find an answer. Does anyone know how I can confirm the shaft diameter and length of a John Deere motor, FC420V-AS10? I was going to use in a different application but my eyes are tired from looking for this info.

A dealer with a kawasaki franchise will have access to the spec .
JD use std spec engines so it will be 1" or 1&1/8".
I occasionally fit a new engine but don't have direct access except through my wholesaler who only sells a small range of engines.
OTOH if you know the what the engine came out of then the data you need will be on tractordata.com/ under the engine detail tab.

JD has an exclusive on all parts used on their products. That is the reason that their spec numbers are not listed on the Kawasaki site. Now most parts are standard for that series, but you will not find a direct parts lookup.
