Steering problem on my GT262

Hello all,

I have a GT262 that's developed a dead spot in the steering. It doesn't have power steering. I've replaced the drag link, and it's bolted on nice and tight, and I don't see any play in it. So it seems like the loose part is between the attachment to the drag link and the steering column. Anybody have any ideas for what to look for, or has anybody had to fix this sort of problem before?

It's really not so much a spot as it is an overall looseness. It takes about 5 degrees of turning the steering wheel before it begins affecting the turn.

Excellent, thanks. Any recommendations on how to get to that part? Will getting to it from the top or bottom be better? I've got a lift, so either is good.

Also parts number 13 ( 2 bushes ) because no one oils them as per owners manual and part 10 .
I use white lithium spray grease on them and on the fan gear & steering gear

As for dissasembly, look at the diagram'
The housing is flat on the bottom so it must bolt on top of the floor
There is neither a nut or bolt on either shaft but both have split pins ( part 9 )
Now you will probably need to hang from the rafters to get to them, but that is part of the fun.
I replace the split pins with R clips which are much easier to remove & replace.
Disconnect the battery couse from memory the starter solenoid is stragically placed so the pliers will hit the live terminal when you have got them on the pin.
