Picked up a 2005 Murray Lawn Tractor off of craigslist for free a few weeks ago. With the help of some kind folks here, managed to get it running and in good working order. It came with a bagger attachment too. It's not bad looking at all. The front grill was missing, so I just pop riveted in a section of wire window screen. My costs to get it running are listed below. They could have been lower if I knew what I was doing. Ended up frying the main harness somehow. After installing the new solenoid, I may have attached the ground in the wrong location. Anyway, when I went to start it, wire insulation started melting. The previous owner removed the fuse holder, but I had replaced it, so I'm not sure if the harness was damaged beforehand.

Item Cost
main harness 60.00
Battery 50.00
starter 40.00
Blades 36.00
fuse and holder 14.00
air filter 13.00
oil and filter 10.00
Key 9.00
starter solenoid 9.00
deck wheel 9.00
plugs and fuel filter 8.00
grease fittings 5.00
sping 1.50
Total 264.50

I checked CL and couldn't find anything comparable for $250. If you did more price shopping on the parts, you could have done even better.

$197.50 Is the total in repairs. I never count normal tune up parts.
