Hi Friends,

Just bought a Z-Force L-series 54" last week. I noticed the last time I went to check the hours, it said "Low Oil Press".. So I called the folks who sold me the mower, and they said it will always say when in the middle position, and that it's kind of like a "dummy light for your car." I checked the oil and it's full, but something doesn't seem right. The operator's manual just said it will always show the voltage followed by the hours, but nothing about this low oil pressure message.

What gives? Did that guy give me a load of manure or what?

Thanks for any input you can offer!

Before start-up no oil pressure is expected. Your car does a "bulb check" with ignition on before you start the car. At start-up the red oil warning light should go out. If it is staying on after startup, be worried. You could buy a mechanical oil pressure gage ($15)and plumb it in temporarily to the (usual) port on or near the oil filter to get a "referee" reading, or if you do not tinker, take it to a dealer to do it.
