Hello,

I mow 4 properties a week that takes me about 3.5 hours total on my 42" Troybilt. I want to step up to a ztr and have been looking through craigslist. My budget is $2000-$2500 max for a used machine.

I found a 2004 Dixie Chopper Silver Eagle LT2400 50" with a 20hp kohler command with 400 hours that the guy is asking $2350. I stopped by to check it out today and it seemed to be in pretty good condition.
The only thing I didn't like was it puffed out a bit of smoke when started (cold) with the choke on, but it cleared right up and seemed to run strong with the choke off.
The hydros pulled smooth and the deck engaged as it should.
My question is does that sound like a decent price?
Its been for sale for 26 days so I'm guessing that the price is a bit high or there's something mechanical wrong that I don't know about (I have limited mechanical knowledge).

Also how is the cut quality of a LT2400?

anyways thanks for any info/advice.

Is the smoke blue or black? I would have bought it!

Black smoke with choke on is normal, air is limited, so to much fuel. Blue smoke only on start would more than likely mean oil seeping through valves while shut down.

The smoke looked medium grayish to me. Anyways I didn't buy it.
I ended up buying a Exmark Lazer Z HP 52"
