Hi I am new to your site. So any help would be appreciated. I have been given a Husqvarna rider, model YTH2148. The problem seems to be that when you try to run the machine it dies trying to run mower deck. Does the mower have a magnetic coil for a clutch. I am thinking that is bad.

Tank you for the help

Yes, you have electric PTO. With that said it can be a few different things. I may not get them all but I will start with the most likely.

1. Carberator dirty not allowing extra fuel needed for blade usage.
2. Charging system not putting out enough voltage.
3. PTO switch bad
4. Brake, seat, neutral, or reverse safety switch not working correctly.

1. Remove and clean carb.Dirty carb

2. Check voltage at the battery with the engine at full speed. 13.7 or so.

3. Check voltage at PTO wire connector when PTO button is in on position and disconnected from PTO. Whatever voltage at the battery is.

4. Check all switches for continuity. Each switch can be a double switch so test with that in mind. Remember that they will be open in one position and closed in the other.

And lets not forget bad pulley bearings, jambed blade spindles or too small a belt.
