Has anybody tried using a mulch fan on older units? I'd like to try a fan on my L21zsna, but before I put it on, I want make certain it will do no harm. Anybody done this?

cannot see why it would not work, might need to change the taper blade holder that has the two tabs to align and hold the fan in place. Then you need to plug the deck.

Hey Parkboy,
It won't hurt anything. I have them on 2 steel deck F engine mowers just like yours. Just take your blade retaining bolt off and slip the mulch fan on. It will fit. It goes under your blade, closest to the ground. The only thing is, I can't tell any difference when I have them on or not. Go ahead and give it a try. Maybe you
will have better luck with them than me. Good luck.

The main "deal" here is the mulch fan clearing the muffler. On the older pre-compliance models that had cast aluminum mufflers, there probably isn't enough clearance (C and D model engines). Those models with steel mufflers will probably work OK. If it doesn't rub anything, it should be ok.
