I've had this lawn mower for several years and have not had a problem till this spring. Got it out for mowing back in April and had not issues. Fired right up first time. Cut our 1/2 acre lot about 4 times so far and no issues. Then started to notice it was smoking a little on the 5th mow. Then by the 6th and 7th it was like a James Bond car escaping from a bad guy. Here's what I did:

  1. Checked the gas - good
  2. Took the carberator off, cleaned it out - good
  3. Checked the oil to see if there was any gas or water in it - it was good

Here's a video of what it's doing - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EMxv_dHhr8U

Thoughts?

That's a lot of smoke. A leak down test will tell if the rings are worn are broken

Run the engine for 10 minutes or so.
Stop then remover the oil filler cap.
If smoke comes out the head gasket is gone or rings have gone.

If no smoke ou have a cracked head , loose valve guide.

Mosquito fogging is classic sign of briggs ohv blown head gasket.

After seeing your post on another forum I see it had a Kohler command.

I think fuel has diluted the oil.

Thanks for the advice. I changed the head gasket and did a valve job on them. Still smoking.

I'm going to pick up a leak down tester tomorrow and try that.
