Just bought a Z series with the big block Koler with EFI and the Red Technology. One of the big selling features in the literature was the fuel efficiency it offered but after mowing the first 10 acres with it and it using almost the full 12 gallons of fuel I'm not so convinced. Ran it in the middle position on the switch and the grass wasn't that heavy. I've mowed the same 10 acres with my 2004 Lazer with the Koler Command Pro engine for several years and under normal conditions only burns a little over 5 gallons. Is this normal for these motors to use this much more fuel or is something not right with it?

It should use a tad bit more fuel but that is crazy.

Just a follow up, after first oil change and now a little over 20 hours on the motor things have improved considerably. I also found out that under normal conditions running with the switch in the lowest setting provides plenty of power and speed to get the job done. I'm satisfied with the performance.
