Does anyone know why my John Deere Zero Turn lawn mower will not run unless the choke is on? It was working fine and then as soon as I lowered the mower deck and started the blades, the engine stopped. I changed the oil filter but still it will not run.

It is a John Deere 737 ZTrek

I don't think the oil filter will ever have an effect on your particular problem...

Your having a fuel delivery problem. Starting at the tank, check for obstructions, check the fuel filter (if it has one), the carb fuel float bowl...(there could be water in the float bowl or tank) if you have not located the obstruction to this point... it will then be necessary to remove the carb for a thorough cleaning... :smile:KennyV

Thanks! I meant the fuel filter :) When you mentioned water in the float bowl or tank, I then found out the mower was left out in a heavy storm we had whereas it was always parked in the machine shed.
