Does anyone know why my John Deere Zero Turn lawn mower will not run unless the choke is on? It was working fine and then as soon as I lowered the mower deck and started the blades, the engine stopped. I changed the oil filter but still it will not run.

It is a John Deere 737 ZTrek

If you have not done so already, I'd advise you to post your question in the Small Engine & Mower Repair section, thank you.

Oh, and welcome to LMF

Welcome aboard

Enjoy LMF i think you have a belt that is getting tight and is killing the engine or your clutch has problems and is killing the engine because there is something wrong with a safety switch . Did you use and old gas can or( old gas) and it had junk in it and you got that junk in the mower gas tank . Clean out tank put a new in-line gas filter on the gas line hose and make sure you put the arrow the tight way on the in-line gas filter or it will not work right ,put new clean gas in and add some sea foam to the gas this helps clean the gum out of the carburettor as you use the gas in that tank. Good luck
