Have a Craftsman YT3000. Started good, then died, opened up and realized there was a mice nest behind the gas tanks under the steering housing. Removed the Gas tank to clean and there is a black and blues wires into a black connector hanging loose. Where does this plug into? I searched many videos and articles on the wiring of this mower but could not find anything that explained this. The battery is good but it will not start or turn. No headlights - that wiring is still connected. Fuses appear to be OK.

Lets start with the model number of the mower. It is normally under the seat.

Like cars there are several different wiring variations on the base model from which your mower was derrived.
And like a car it is cheaper to use a single wiring loom with redundant wires than carry an inventory of a dozen different looms.
Have a close look at the plug and see if the wire terminals have marks on them indicating they have been connected at some time.
Sears generally put a wiring diagram in the back of the parts manual which you can download from their web site for free.
