Hi,

New member here trying to fix my Dad's Crasftsman ZTS 7500 50" with a 26HP Kohler on it. The problem is that when then control arms are in the open (stationary) position the mower starts fine and will idle as normal. As soon as either (left or right) control arm is pulled in to commence "drive" mode the engine cuts out immediately. I ran checks on both control arms and it is the same scenario on either arm.

I find it hard to believe that both the left AND right safety switches went bad at the same time (???) but am having trouble figuring out where else the problem could stem from. All safety switches tie back together in the wiring harness, is there a main module or switch that needs to be replaced?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

It is the brake switch or the brake itself.
If you attempt to move with the parking brake engaged the engine shuts down.
