I inherited a nice old TSC/Huskee/MTD 5 HP rear tine tiller ( I believe a mid 1980's vintage) without a manual. I am trying to find out the recommeded grease/gear oil for the transmission/gearbox. I have found a plastic fill plug on the top of the gearbox housing, but no dipstick or fill level plug on it. Any suggestions as to how to determine the level, and/or what product I should use? It is a model 213-430-131.
Thanks

Your have a 1993 rear tine tiller made for TSC. That tranny uses 40 ounces of 737-0300a benalene grease. it comes in 8 ounces tubes from MTD at about $17 per tube.

There is no way of knowing how much grease is in the tranny without total disassembly and refill from scratch.
