Whats best to mow large hills?

I mow a pretty steep slope when I mow the pond area of my farm, the dam is the steepest part of the whole area, I use an old Murray rider that I put chains on the rear wheels for added traction going up the hill from the pond. I cut up and down the slope and make wide turns at the bottom.
