Normally I'm the household mower but my husband broke the starter cord on our 2005 Toro mower last fall...so I replaced that. I was not able to pull the cord at all because the flywheel and starter cup were stuck. I found some youtube guy that told me I should hold down the blade control bar while turning in case the cylinder is full of oil. It moves now, though not very smoothly. The flywheel sounds like it's rubbing on something but I can't see what. Would that happen if the key got trashed?

I haven't tried to start it yet. How freely should the flywheel be spinning and should I be concerned about the rubbing sound? how mad should I be at my husband? ;-)

I don't have the ability to remove the cup or the flywheel myself.
