i decided last year to remove fender and power wash the top side of the transmission. It was filthy!! No doubt I added ten more years to his life! I also washed the top of the engine too after removing the radiator and fan. It was a MESS!! 320 wash.jpgjd320 wash.jpg

Get a 3' or 4' long air duster and blow up there clean every season.
Do not us water as that will set the dirt into clay.
They need to be that long so you can pass it through all the small holes and have your head far enough away to not have dirt for dinner.

it was completely dry before re install. i used the leaf blower on it then let it sit in the sun the rest of the day.

A better explanation why to not use water to clean deck. When things get hot they expand and when they get cold they shrink. So hot spindle get cold from water and shrinks producing a vacuum that draws water inside of the spindle. Even the smallest drop of water will destroy bearings in no time at all.
