Hi,
I have an Ariens Riding Mower ,and the brand transmission is General Transmissions..it is 4 years old,and I saw grease splattered on the inside of my back tire,I got to looking and saw a seal (output seal) hanging on the axle shaft. I have ordered the seal, and it doesn't look too hard to do,but has anyone have knowledge on how to do this, and also know the type of grease that is used in it,so I can replace the grease that came out.. Here is my trans. and the part that I have to replace is #11 in the diagram..

With the seal hanging on the axle and come out of place there has to be a reason for this. It sound to me like more then just a seal replacement???

if you want to add grease buy this one:
https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_...&rh=i:aps,k:general+transmissions+grease+ep00
the best way to add grease in your transmission is to put it through the brake lever.
there are some video in youtube for the RS800 that show you how to access the brake lever.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=grZPhUMnrYE
Again if you did not loose so much grease (less than a pound) I would not try to add more.

And .. here's some more help ...
http://services.generaltransmissions.com/en/service-manual.html

GT TRANS LUBE ( need 3 LBS ).JPG

you do not need to remove trans to replace your seal ...... see RS 800 axle seal info HERE.... for seal replacement

http://services.generaltransmissions.com/en/instruction.html

Hope this does help ... Also please tell us about your experiences with this trans. I have never seen much said ..
or reviewed on it. ...........Boobala ..

I know what you are saying and hope you are right. The new seal should press right in with some sealer around the outside of it. But I have been in the repair trade for many years and find that properly installed seals don't come out of place. They just don't slip out of place without a reason.

Hey guys,
Thank you all for your help. Took about 20 minutes, and super simple..
Turns out ,my old seal was leaking around the edges of it. If you look at the instruction you guys provided, you can see in the picture where they have the damaged seal and the new seal,by looking at it they both look the same, untill you look at the outer edge, you see the damaged one doesn't have any ribs on it where the new one does... This is how mine was.. Back to happy.. Thanks http://services.generaltransmission...formation/Bulletins/RS800 Axle shaft seal.pdf
