I traded my 1998 Honda mower for the new (then) HRX217HRX mower (with clip director) at the Honda dealer for a $400 difference. I have owned that HRX217HRX Honda mower since 2004.
I found a great deal on a one year old HRX217HYA for $500. Made the switch and sold my 13 year old Honda mower for $250. Admittedly, it was in great shape, but that is why I continue with the Honda brand for power equipment.
We also owned a Honda riding lawn mower, which was cool. Small, which worked well for getting it through the gate. Not a competitor for our JD riding mower, but worked great on a medium sized corner lot.
