Hello everyone! I came to this forum by way of a web search for a part for a John Deere stick edger. According to my local shop, it needs a new coil as the current coil is firing "out of time". The shop said the part was about $350 (far more than the value of the edger in fully working condition), so I thought I'd look for some other sources for the coil, JD part# PS10858
This edger has the bright yellow trim pieces / cowlings on it, and looks very similar to a Homelite PS3000 that I have as well. In fact, the edger heads are interchangeable between the two machines. So, I'm thinking that if I could verify who actually made the motor for JD, I could search for the coil without the stratospheric John Deere price.
Does anyone here have any information about the ability to cross-reference that JD part number above to the actual manufacturer of the motor so that I can find the coil for a reasonable amount of money? Any help is greatly appreciated!
Thank you!
Sam
