Ignition Coil Question

I have a K241 10hp Kohler engine, that is hard to start. Fuel system seems ok, electrical system maybe not so much. I've installed new points, spark plug and new wiring between the points, coil and ignition switch. I am getting spark (in-line tester), but the spark appears very light (ie the in-line tester bulb lights, but not very brightly.) I would like to test the ignition coil by replacing it with one I have on hand and know it's good (from another machine -- tractor) Question is, I have no idea what the output voltage / current is from either coil. Does anyone have any idea of what the output voltage and current are from a coil is / should be. How big a risk if I just try the tractor coil. Both systems are 12 volt.
