i think the deck has been repainted at some time it came with a can of lawn boy oil and a spare blade.

Looks really nice! Yeah the deck paint job looks pretty good, just a little extra paint got on the data plate though, FWIW, those data plates can be removed to make deck painting easier and cleaner. It's just a matter of tapping those rivets out with a pin punch from under the deck.

It looks to be in decent shape. I have always wanted to find a good Lawn Boy that is as old as I am. You say that you "dragged" it home. Was it a chance find or something that had been advertised? Let us know how much work it needs to get it running good again. As always, before and after pictures are always appreciated.

Right now our grass is frozen in time where I live. I'd be proud to break out a mower like that in the coming spring!

found it on facebook marketplace i bought it from the original owner he said it has been parked since the late 80's hanging on the wall in a climate controlled garage.
im not going to do anything cosmetically but i would like to know a good source for say points and condenser the points are pitted and worn.
compression was around 90 psi cold which is healthy for a engine of this age.
according to the original owner he said he used it for a few years then parked it after purchasing a loafer.

i went to oreilly auto parts and ordered a ignition coil and condenser through them
for a total of 38.00 points are NLA but that is ok i filed them flat and set them to .20.
it loses spark when it gets hot and i hope this fixes it.
