Honda 4514 Charging coil resistance test

I tested my charging coil prior to assembly of engine. According to my shop manual the test should fall in between .16 - 0.24 ohms. This is a 7.5 to 10 amp dual lamp/charging coil on a Honda GX-360 twin cylinder My test results came to 3 ohms. Does this mean that the lamp coil is entirely bad and will not have any output? Or just not to the 7.5 to 10 amp range? Thanks Ronn

The lamp coil in question is mounted on the engine. After pulling the flywheel loads of debris has encrusted the lamp coils. I haven't cleaned this area and tested the coil. Any possibility that a cleaning will solve my bad resistance test? Thanks! Ronn

first, there is no 'lamp coil' on a 4514. there is the charging coil for the battery. the lights run off the battery. it is common for there to be incorrect info in the honda manual. be sure you are using the Rx1 scale and have zeroed the meter.
