I'm looking to purchase a 2002 or 2006 928D Grasshopper mower... Hours are super low and he wants $8,000?
I have some concerns understanding what year this mower is... I have read from on some post, for the year look at the model serial number and the 2nd # will indicate the year?

I would like some feed back is this is a good deal or not?

Thanks!

$1500 to $2000 over priced in my opinion with such little detail. Hours determine price more than any other factor. Condition is important as well. You have given us none of this info. A car with 10,000 miles is worth a lot more than a car with 110,000 and all beat to crap.

215 is very very low hours for a mower of that size and cost. I could not imagine buying a close to $25,000 mower to use it for 215 hours. But if all pans out I would snatch it up. I would still try to get him to come down on price but do not expect him to at those hours.

Pros and cons are with grasshopper as a whole. Thay make some of the best mowers on the planet. Very heavy duty and built to last. Parts are high but that engine is a 4000 hour engine if taken care of. They are a heavy machine.

I bought a 928D,used with around 2500 hrs approx. 5 yrs ago.best mower I've ever owned.I mow anywhere from 1 to 2 acres w/it.That Kubota diesel is almost bullitproof as long as you do maint. on it.I've had to replace switches a clutch and a few other parts but I live in Kansas where they are made and there are several dealers that carry the parts....russ

hello there
I happen to have 5 of those 928D mowers and for a 2006 928D this spring a bought I paid $8000.00 it came for game and parks Kansas it was it mint condition it's only down fall is that the 72 '' Deck really is to large for a home owner with little yard. The 72' deck has a scalping problem on uneven ground .the mower I got had 450 hrs on it and I got all the maintance paper work as to how it was cared for .Great machine but I have replaced the deck with a rear discharge 61'' great machine very easy to take care of .I happen to have a 2000 928D with 3200 hrs it still runs like the day I got it new I would not be afraid to but a machine like that as long as there is some records to see that it has been serviced and cared for. If you happen to get the mower A good oil to use Rotella 15/40 the machine takes 5 quarts to change out . every 200 hrs.

That little Kubota engine will easily go past 10,000 hrs with a little maintenance, it was widely used on apu's in trucking and many of them have well over 10,000 hrs and going strong change oil and filter every 100 hrs and keep air filter clean and it's all but bulletproof.
If you only use it for residential, it will be last mower you will need, just be sure and any parts you replace are quality.
