I just got a free lawn boy model 10304. It leaks gas from the air filter box.
The float was cracked into, so I thought that was the problem. I cleaned
the screen filter and sprayed everything with carb cleaner. I replaced the
float and put in a new needle and new seat. Put it back together and it still
leaks dripping out of the filter box. It won't start either. It will fire after priming
but stop after about one or two seconds.
do I need to adjust the float some way? Can anyone out there help me out?
Thank You.

Read this bulletin that Lawnboy put put out. Search the forums because even Lawnboy 10523 had the same concerns. There is a fix.

You can find the measurement for the float in the service manual or just remove carb, remove bowl so all gas is out, place bowl back on with out screwing to carb (just want to hold bowl in place to simulate operating position) turn upside down and blow air into gas inlet. This simulates carb full of gas should not be able to get any air in, if you can bend tab a little until you cannot get any air in. Turn carb right side up, should be able to get gas in with little obstruction. I chased this issue for a month before doing this method.
