Re: Wreaths Across America

That is really nice and the timing, just before the greedy ME season of Christmas is a very sombering idea.
You hear it on the news all he time, 1 dead here, two dead there and the magnitude of the whole lot does not hit home till you read 357 truck loads of wreaths.
.

You're right Bert-Man,

Many of the wreaths are laid at Arlington National Cemetery by volunteers, but they are also provided to 1,200 additional locations. However, seeing pictures of Arlington is indeed a somber sight. We have many National Cemeteries throughout the country and they are all very somber places to visit. We spent April 2015 in South Carolina and visited the National Cemetery in Beaufort, which has many graves from the Civil War. It does cause one to pause and reflect. Pity it doesn't make us more peaceful..

BIRTHDAYS

Remember! There are only three more shopping days until Boo-Boo's Birthday! (Well, four days if you count shopping on his birthday..) And also remember that Bert-Man's Birthday falls sometime during the week following Boo-Boo's!

Boo would like donations made in an effort to help him raise his own work shop! He is sick and tired of being a palm tree mechanic and wants his own building. It doesn't have to be as fancy as Ron's, or as full of crap as Doc's, just a building with a roof and walls.. OH! And AC of course!!

Bert would like some secret means of accessing inexpensive American parts that would include FREE shipping by air... If anyone currently (or previously) involved with running drugs could help out setting this up, we'd appreciate the assistance.

Cake and ice cream will be sent to all respondents.. (May not survive shipping to Southern locations.)

But we are going to go out and celebrate, right? You say where and when and I'll be there..

Palm trees do not make for good wrenchin, as the lack of stout horizontal limbs do not allow the hanging of chain falls or block
and tackle setups.
Oaks are much more shade-tree mechanicin'.......
So, I may send Boo a big, strong oak tree to better suit his purposes.
It will be stout with great horizontal limbs so he can yank those Kohlers and Kawasakis with ease.
And, as it will be out in the open, it will provide shade and be air conditioned by those mild mid afternoon July Florida breezes.

However, as shipping a fully grown tree would be prohibitively expensive, it would have to be sent in kit form...
It'll have to be an acorn......plant, add water, and........wait!
Sooner or later it'll be exactly what he needs, provided that some blind squirrel doesn't find it first!

You surprise me Ron, I live in the Ocala National Forest, I'm surrounded by a gazillion oak trees, however the thought was very decent of you, and I have no knowledge of Kohlers or Kawasakis, other than what I read on these forums, I'm a Briggs kinda guy, grew up with em & McCullochs and a sprinkling of small cycle and Go-Kart engines, went into cars at about 14 yrs, old, got into the Muscle cars of the 60s & early 70s then the gas shortages and EPA ended that segment of my car wrenching days, got into some Go-Fast Boats work for awhile then learned jet-engines in the AF, I've worn a lot of "hats" in my better days, but now its just putzin on small stuff, but I'll always be a wrench till ??? If by chance, you should run across some MONEY-TREES ?? I will gladly accept all you can send !! ......

I knew that. I was replying to Roger's assessment of you as a "palm tree mechanic."

As he probably knows you far better than I, I figgered that there was a reason for your choice of the venerable palm as your
gantry. Hence, I endeavored to offer you a more viable alternative.
But, I now believe that you might plant it in the middle of your garage.............
