When under load the governor will open carb linkage but motor does not increase RPMs, with throttle in rabbit position the engine rpms are normal but when carb linkage is held open by overriding the governor there is no increase in RPMs. Thanks for any help to solve problem.

had a engine a few years back that would only run half throttle. the intake lobe on the camshaft had worn down to almost round and was acting like it own governor by limiting the amount of intake air and fuel, the other thing to check would be sure the throttle butterfly is still attached to the throttle shaft and that the shaft isn't broke inside the carb.

Thanks, have rebuilt carb and saw no problems there, will check the cam lobe. Engine runs at full throttle but does not recover with additionial power when governor senses a drop in rpm. The governor does open the carb butterfly but no increase in power. I am thinking it is still in carb where the problem resides.

Could be a bad intake gasket or bad compression.
