Chains & weights Drive chain adjustment on 3110

Recently purchased a 3110 ES. Was working great when suddenly drive stopped. Found the drive chain laying in the grass with a broken link. Purchased a new drive chain and now ready to install. I have the page from the 3110 manual with the exploded view of the drive section. The block titled CHAIN ASSY. & ADJUSTMENT describes how to assemble the chain & master link. That part seems fairly straight forward. The part which describes adjustment however is confusing. Can anyone help me with this or suggest a possible reference.
