Engine Grasshopper 721D possibly fuel solenoid issue HELP

I have a 1992 Grasshopper 721D mower that will not stay running. I can zip tie the fuel solenoid and it will run but when I release the tie it shuts off. While the engine is running (zip tied) the mowing deck will not engage. Do you have any suggestions on what might be the problem. Thank you.

I don't understand how you can zip tie a fuel solenoid....
Where is it located? Are you referring to the fuel shut-off solenoid?
Please clarify.
