18 hp opposed twin

Hi i am a new member and i have a question...i have a 1982 MTD 1848 lawn tractor with a 18hp opposed twin..i need a replacement head...are the 16 hp opposed twins heads the same?

The 16 will work put change both. The 16 hp head on the 18hp will up the compression.

the number stamped on the 18 heads are the same as stamped on the 16 heads...should be the same right? i heard that the bore is the only thing different....just trying to confirm.. the exhaust doesn't bolt to the head.

The 16 will work put change both.
The 16 hp head on the 18hp will up the compression. The exhaust will bolt right up.

the 18 and the 16 both have the same numbers stamped on them..i heard the bore is the only thing different..trying to confirm.....exhaust doesn't bolt to head.

Just be careful as the left & right heads are different.

i know the right and left side are different..
but are the heads form a 16hp and 18 hp interchangeable and is there any difference in the heads from either motor....increase in hp is from bore size.
