Hi, I purchased a Bigdog Alpha with the Kohler 22hp 7000 series. It looks like I should use either 10w 30 or SAE 30 oil living here in Florida. Anyone have any input on brand or using synthetic oil or even 10w 30 vs 30 oil? The mower has 2.9 hours after the first mowing and will be due to have the first change after the next one before going to the 100 hour schedule. Well the book calls for 100 hour change but as hot as it gets here and dusty at time I will do it sooner than that. Anything else you know about the mower or the engine feel free to add. I am moving from a 52" Huskee that I have been working hard for the past 11 years. Trannie finally bit the dust and I am tired of putting time and money into it anyway. Seemed like I worked on it about 1 hour for every 2 hours of mowing the last few years. I will say the Briggs 24 hp motor still runs like a champ though.

The w stands for winter. 10w will work down to -25. For warm weather places single viscosity is better. I would run 30.
