Have a Snapper LT-100 27-hp tractor. Off of the Solenoid there is a 15-amp fuse that keeps blowing. As soon as you turn on the key with the new fuse it blows. Any suggestions on where to start looking?

Blowing the fuse as soon as you turn on the key says you have a short after the key switch. Check the wiring that goes to the voltage regulator if this is wired through the key switch. Also check the wiring for the fuel solenoid, and head lights if they come on when you turn on the key without the engine running.

Basically check everything that gets power when you turn on the key.

Thanks -- Will try to track it down.

As you already heard you have a short to ground. Disconnect the battery, replace or bypass the fuse. With the key on, take an Ohm meter (Batt powered Continuity Tester w/lt) and hook one side up to the fuse and the other to the chassis (Ground) You probably have 0 Ohms (Cont Light is on) confirming the short to ground. Start disconnecting various circuits/components. When the meter goes to full scale (Cont Light goes out) you have found the circuit/component that is shorted. Inspect this entire circuit carefully for bare wire, missing insulation, etc. Once repaired the Ohm meter reading between the fuse and chassis should be infinite (full scale) - Continuity Tester should not light.
