My John Deere LX 277 lawn tractor will not start. What happens is that the key turns and the crank indicator light slowly starts to glow. Shortly, the battery indicator light starts to light indicating the battery is under load. That's all that happens. My suspicion is the something is wrong with the starter motor or solenoid. What would be your guess?

Is the battery pulling 12 volts? Check this and clean all connections with a wire brush before you go to replacing stuff. ThT waste money. Use jumper cables directly to the starter this will tell you if it is good or not (with the key on of coarse).cheers and I hope you get it fixed
