Not sure about the Stihl unit you are talking about but we have the Echo PAS. We have the edger, trimmer, polesaw, and hedge trimmers. We have had great results with this system. The only problem we have had is the threads on the edger that hold the blade on gaulded and it was cheaper to just buy another edger than repair that one.
We have a 225 and a 280 pas units. We have had problems with the 280. Right now we are also using a 266 PAS unit that belongs to the dealer it and the 225 do a great job for us. If you are doing real heavy edging the 225 is a little short on power. However it will get the job done. The 225 does an excellent job with the pole saw and hedge trimmers.
