Will a 145/70-6 tire fit a 15x6.00-6 rim?

I just inherited an LX172 from my Grandfather. It needs work but cuts FANTASTIC. However, the front tires (15-6.00-6) are bald & I'm thinking about putting some knobbies on it but the only size I found locally is 145/70-6. Can anyone tell me the difference or if they will work? I don't want to spend $60 and not be able to use the tires.

Thanks in advance for any info you can provide.

If you install odd size tires then you will need to re-level the mower deck which can be easy to darn nasty.
Wider tires on the front may contact the steering spindles.
On the 15X6.00-6 tire, 15" is the inflated height of the tire, 6.00" is the inflated width of the tire and 6 is the rim diameter.
