Hey guys,

picked up this Bolens BL250 trimmer, wasn't running, tried to start it a few times and the cord broke. What do you guys recommend for replacement cords in trimmers? Anyone know if there's a specific length/thickness I'll need to use?

[EDIT] Found an operating manual, but cant seem to find a repair manual (if there is one).

If anyone has any info on either the trimmer &/or the cord to use, any feedback would be much appreciated :)

Take off the old one and replace with the same. part number 791-613103
to replace the cord.......
The clutch drum, or clutch bell that covers the clutch itself will need to come off to expose the clutch for removal. If you peek down in the flex shaft slot that the trimmer shaft slides into in that clutch bell, you'll see a Torx screw. That torx screw holds the clutch bell to the crankshaft. A t15 or t20 torx screwdriver will be needed to remove that screw. Slide a screwdriver through the slits in the starter housing and into the fins on the flywheel to keep the engine from turning while you back the torx screw out of the clutch bell. Lefty loosy.
Torx screw out, the bell will slide off the clutch. Pay attention here as the is often a small thin washer between the clutch bell and the clutch.
The clutch will have an arrow on it indicating the direction it will need to turn to spin off. Remove the screwdriver from the flywheel fins. Take a punch and hammer and punch and punch the edge of the clutch that will turn the clutch in the direction needed to spin off.
All that will remain to expose your starter pulley is a few screws in the starter housing.
