Kohler Command 15HP OHV Fuel Problem...........

Is the fuel solenoid at the bottom of the carb fuel bowl necessary ? is very hot to the touch with the ignition on, and has stopped fuel from getting into the carb throat.

Yes. It allows fuel in - sounds shot. I believe it's there to keep it from 'popping' after you shut it down (and to keep fuel in general from being drawn in when it's spinning down when you chop the key). Briggs have the same solenoid. It should 'tick' when you turn the key on, if it isn't - it's not working.

It getting "hot" is a BAD thing with those....you better change it or get a fire extinguisher.:thumbdown:
