murray shift on the fly mods

i have a murray 6 speed shift on the fly transmisson/rearend. im building me a racing mower .my quesion is can i turn it over and put the pulley on the bottom and still have six forward gears.i know ill have to move the vent hole .

Most likely NO...
You will not be getting lube to the places that need it ... AND that will require the pulley, now on the bottom, to be turned in the opposite direction... The latter can be worked around and done... but the first, lube problem, is not going to be that easy... also may find the input seal will leak... :smile:KennyV

BTW... welcome to the forum...
actually I can't imagine that transmission standing up to much racing anyway ... so go ahead and do it .. you will have to twist the belt to get it to turn the pulley in the opposite direction but see how long it stays together, that trans axle is not that much $$... so let us know how it works.. & include pictures...
