Just got my JD STX38 running after storing it this winter.....ran the gas out of it in the fall. It is surging. I figure the carb is a bit plugged.......Anyone had any luck with spray carb cleaners etc to remedy this without taking the carb apart?

or is it something else?

poncho i don't use carb cleaner because alot of the mowers have diaphram's and rubber seals and the carb cleaner will dry them out cause them to get hard i would pour alittle stp gas treament in it and run it most time for me that works.

Or try a little Sea Foam.

I second Jeff, Sea Foam should clear it up. Use a little more than recommended. A lot of people are having fuel related problems because of the alcohol on todays fuel.
