I was not sure where to post this - in the engine repair section or here. Problem is we need to replace the engine on my parents L108 rider and my brother removed the old engine and disposed of it and we have no idea what we are supposed to be looking for. He saved some parts needed (pulley, etc), but not the actual engine. We have come across about 6 engine part numbers (all Briggs and Stratton) to replace this but I don't want to dish out $450 and wind up with the wrong one. Does anyone know which part number is supposed to be used? Why are there 6 choices? Can they all be used with some changes? What is the actual shaft size supposed to be? We've found 1" and 1 1/4". I was considering purchasing the service manual, but I've seen those go from $50-$200 and I"m not even sure the information I need is in there.
If anyone can help that would be greatly appreciated! We're a little lost here.
