Back in the 90's, when I used to mow my next door neighbor's yard, he had a lot of interesting stuff. A tiny Rupp mower, a '60's JD 110, an old 8hp Wheel Horse.....he was an auction hound.

He also had a Wheel Horse simmilar to our '76 rear-discharge model. Same style hood and dash, but it was basically a murray-ohio clone with Wheel Horse stuff on it to make it match the real 'Horse. It was an 8 horse 30-something cut, with an aluminum transaxle, with the sliding (versus 'h') shift pattern between-the-legs.

Anyone seen, heard of, know anything about or (best yet) OWN one of these?

Thanks to 07drummerboy , I now know what that tractor is. It is an A800 Ranger, made only one year - 1974. Came originally with an 8hp Tecumseh, but many people replaced the tek with a B&S of varying HP.

Again: Big thank you to 07drummerboy!

I checked up on it. What I said was right. They put a tek in it, and it was terrible - most people replaced it early on.

That brings back memories. I was mowing with that 21 years ago. Wish I couold find one local!

@Drummer - nice fleet you've got, and congrats on the landscaping. Hoping that one day mine looks as good. We don't have that nice flat bell-curve you've got for weather, or the loam either. 'Round here I've got thick red clay. Things generally get baked to a crisp July and August, and it's a frozen tundra mid-winter.

Excellent work - cheers!
