Anybody got any suggestions on what the best way to clean the fuel tank on a John Deere LX 279 Lawn Tractor is without removing the tank. If removing the tank is essential, then i need some assistance on the process please. Thanks in advance for any assistance offered per this question.

Its a plastic tank built into rear of the tractor. Removal would be the most sufficient cleaning method. It would involve removal of the seat and rear fenders not that bad of a job. Then take the tank to a car wash and give it a good rinse job. Any moisture left into the tank what I do is put some rags in the tank and shake the tank then remove the rags.

Yep rags, and compressed air to blow it out.
