How do I reinstall my celiniod on my starter on mu xl-585? the peg/shaft has a slot that needs to be "hooked" onto the starter engager, can't get that done. Any help?

WELCOME to these forums...
I "think" the JD xl-585 has a Kawasaki 27hp gas engine... But look on yours and post the engine Model number. With that someone May be able to help you reassemble your starter & solenoid... :smile:KennyV

As KennyV said we need some numbers to help for. Also, what is the name and numbers on the starter.

Just a quick note, I had to remove my starter, engage it by hand, I then was able to reinstall the celiniod and just had to remount the starter with the celiniod already attached.
