John Deere 317 repair/repower

I enjoy finding the JD 317, and 316 mowers, and bring them back to life. Great tractor with a poor engine. That is if the engine was not properly taken care of. I just found 2 nice 317's with blown engines. Funny thing is one is an 83 model with a series 1 engine. Go figure. Anyway a close friend who owns a scarp metal yard, saves all 2 cylinder horizontal engines for me. I just tore one 317 down, and it will be getting a opposed cylinder 18 HP Briggs transplant. I was a machinist/toolmaker for 35 years, so I do my own machine or fabrication work. I will attach pictures as I bring this one back on line. This is the only forum I have ever joined, so if I can be of help, or find a motor or transaxle in my supply, just PM me. This is NOT a money maker for me, just something I enjoy in my retirement, and it keeps me out of Miss Sue's way. May God Bless.
